Nestled in the sunshine-bathed amber hills above the Cachagua region of the Carmel Valley, and kissed by gentle, cooling ocean breezes, Durney Vineyards has been producing luscious, fruit-laden grapes since 1970. Planted on 120 acres above the hidden springs of Cachagua (an Indian derivative of the French "Cacher" and Spanish "Agua"), these grapes are grown in ideal conditions with a minimum of irrigation. They are grown without herbicides or pesticides, and the vineyard is one of the very few 100% organically certified in California.
The varietals produced are well-structured, densely fruity Cabernet Sauvignon; Burgundy-style Pinot Noir; crisp, fruity Chenin Blanc; rich, big, honeyed Chardonnay; and apricot aromatized Late Harvest Johannisberg Riesling.
The modern, efficient winery produces award-winning wines of world-class recognition, aged in French oak barrels.
